Summer Teen Driver's Education Courses Set

Summer driverís education courses for teens ages 15 to 17 are available at Lone Star College-CyFair.

Summer classes are set for Mondays through Thursdays at 4 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. starting June 7 and again July 6 or 6 p.m. starting Aug. 2.

The in-classroom (permit) driverís education course covers road rules, road signs and laws to prepare the teens for the Department of Public Safetyís written exam. Other topics are car maintenance, effects of drugs and alcohol, laws and penalties for drinking and driving, emergency situations, basic driving procedures, road rage and insurance.

Parents are responsible for the in-car instruction. The in-classroom course cost is $144. Students are also required to purchase the Texas Traffic Safety Education Student Manual, which is available at the campus bookstore.
