Students interested in representing Lone Star College-Kingwood around campus and in the community are encouraged to apply for the college’s Student Ambassadors program.
Student ambassadors are charged to represent the college throughout the feeder area and in the community along with representing the college at official functions.
“Ambassadors are the face of the college and help promote programs and services in addition to helping with the recruitment of new students,” said Chris Crumley, director of Enrollment Management at LSC-Kingwood. “We are looking for student leaders and persons of integrity, honesty and trustworthiness to become student ambassadors.”
Eligibility requirements mandate that students must be a LSC-Kingwood student or a graduating high school senior enrolling at LSC-Kingwood for the 2010-2011 academic year. Applicants must also have a 2.5 GPA or higher; the ability to speak comfortably to a group of youths or adults; have excellent communication skills; and be available for training, bi-weekly meetings and some evening and weekend events. They must also commit to a minimum of 30 community service hours each semester.
“There are eight to ten positions available. Each ambassador will receive a $300 scholarship per semester for completing at least 30 community service hours. They will also receive an official uniform,” Crumley said.
