Lone Star College-Kingwood art students will exhibit a variety of pieces at the annual juried Fall Student Art Show Nov. 15-Dec. 1. The art show will be held in the new art gallery in the Performing Arts Center, formerly the Student Fine Arts building.
Selected works of approximately 75 students will be featured in three categories: photography, 2-D (design I, design II and drawing), and 3-D (ceramics).
“This event showcases the very best art work produced during the fall semester,” said Mari Omori, art professor. “This show highlights the students’ achievement in the form of visual art. Community members are invited to the show to be inspired by the concepts, creativity and craftsmanship demonstrated by these art students.”
The Fall Student Art Show is free and open to the public. First, second, third and honorable mention awards for each category and one best of show award will be announced at the Reception and Awards Ceremony on Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
All art work will be judged by guest juror, Jeff Forster. As an artist and educator, Forster has received numerous awards and honors in national and international exhibitions. He has completed residencies at the Armory Art Center in Florida, LSC-North Harris and at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
“We are very pleased to have Jeff as our juror. This is a great opportunity for both students and the public to learn about the process of showing art work, as well as the benefits of participating in juried events," said Kris Larson, gallery director.
The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. For more information on the Fall Student Art Show, call 281-312-1534 or email kcartgallery@LoneStar.edu
