The spring semester is coming to an end and final exams are right around the corner. To ease students’ anxiety, Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Learning Center, Library and Student Activities are working together to offer Exam Jam: Review and Refresh on April 29 from 3-7 p.m. around campus. To participate in this event, everyone is asked to bring his or her Lone Star College System student ID.
Exam Jam will allow Lone Star College students a chance to meet with their professors and SI leaders for one more study session before their final exams. Students who attend the review sessions are eligible to win raffle tickets toward great prizes or for an opportunity to Pi the Prof (throw a pie at a professor).
“This is a win-win situation. Exam Jam will give both professors/SI leaders and students a chance to meet one last time before students take their final exams. The benefits of this event will be immense and the rewards will go beyond an outstanding academic experience,” said Dr. Janis Terry, Learning Center manager.
The faculty, SI and tutoring sessions will take place from 3-6 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a variety of activities as well as food. The first 300 students who attend and participate in Exam Jam will receive a free meal ticket. The event will close with “Brain Break” where students have an opportunity to turn in their raffle tickets to win prizes or a chance to Pi the Prof; they must be present to win.
All faculty members are encouraged to hold at least a one hour session to tell students what they should study for their final exams. Those who recruit the most faculty members will win gift cards and all faculty members will receive a chance to win a reserved parking spot for the fall semester. Faculty members interested in participating can reserve a room by emailing Vanessa Farmer at Vanessa.R.Farmer@LoneStar.edu with the following information:
- the course that will be the focus of the review session
- the time that they want to hold their review session
- the number of hours they will spend with their students
“Please help us make Exam Jam: Review and Refresh a big success by participating and encouraging your students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity,” Terry said.
