Published on: June 15, 2011Come to Lone Star College-CyFair for big laughs and big hair at the big musical comedy “Hairspray” on stage this August.
LSC-CyFair is teaming up with The Country Playhouse Theatre to produce this summer musical, based on John Waters’s New Cinema film set in Baltimore in the 1960s. Tracy Turnblad turns her town upside-down when she wins a coveted spot on the local TV dance program “The Corny Collins” show and becomes a teen idol overnight. Now a part of the “in” crowd, Tracy quickly becomes a trend setter and uses her popularity to help change the show’s segregation policy.
LSC-CyFair’s Ron Jones directs this delightfully funny, insightful musical featuring a host of exciting songs and dances from the 1960s. The show also contains material not suitable for young children.
Performances will be held July 14 through July 30 at The Country Playhouse Theatre and Aug. 5 through Aug. 14 at LSC-CyFair.
