New students, here's your opportunity to get the 4-1-1 on everything Lone Star College-Kingwood has to offer you.
Student orientations will begin with a presentation from each division of student services, including Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Student Activities, Career Services, Disability Services and Testing/Tutoring Services.
"These are the services that all students will utilize here at LSC-Kingwood. It's important to make sure they know where to look for help and guidance," said John Turner, program manager, student activities at LSC-Kingwood.
Students will then be introduced to each of the three academic divisions: Business, Technology, and Social Science (BTSS); Arts and Humanities; and Math, Applied Technologies, Science and Health (MASH). A campus tour will be given, which will include not only a tour of the campus and encompassing buildings, but a stop at each division office and faculty areas. Students will also spend an hour in an interactive group discussion covering student life.
"Attending one of these new student orientations helps students be more successful and feel more confident. Knowing where to head on the first day of class is a huge relief to most students and they'll recognize a few friendly faces, too," said Turner.
Orientations will be held in the Student Center/Fine Arts Building, room 125 on Tuesday, August 5, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, August 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Thursday, August 7, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
