Students studying in LSC-Kingwood's cosmetology programs can graduate with a Cosmetology Operator Certificate in one year or stay for the two-year associate's degree and qualify as an instructor or facial specialist.

The Cosmetology Operator Certificate is a full-time 12-month program.  Graduates have many employment opportunities including stylist, skin-care specialist, make-up artist, or hair coloring/chemical technician.  Other options include working as a research assistant in the cosmetology industry, a sales representative for a beauty product, or a beauty editor for newspapers and magazines.

The instructor program is for the individual who wishes to teach cosmetology in a public school, college technical school or private cosmetology school.  Cosmetology certificate programs meet state requirements and prepare students for Texas licensure.

The facial/esthetic program is approved by the Texas Cosmetology Commission and is a full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. program.  The facial specialist certificate prepares an individual to perform all aspects of skin care and make-up.  Upon successful completion, the student will be eligible for an Esthetician Operator state license.
