Lone Star College-Atascocita Center’s faculty and staff will have a chance to show off their programs, academic courses and other services at the college’s Open House event on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
At the Open House, high school students, parents and community members will learn more about what the college has to offer by speaking directly to the departments in which they are interested.
“The primary purpose of the Open House is to provide an outreach opportunity to publicize our presence, programs, facilities and services and to make connections with the community,” said Bill Albers interim director for LSC-Atascocita Center.
The community will have an opportunity to visit with various departments such as the University of Houston-Downtown, University of Maryland University College, LSC-Continuing Education, ESOL, Student Activities, Quest Early College High School, and the library. The interaction will allow people to ask questions and gather a better knowledge of certifications and associate degrees that are offered. LSC-Atascocita Center is a satellite facility of LSC-Kingwood.
“The Open House will benefit everybody. The prospective student gets an opportunity to make the best choice for his/her academic experience. The college gets an opportunity to showcase solid and interesting programs and the community gets an opportunity to see firsthand how LSC-Atascocita Center is providing a great service to the citizenry,” said Dr. Darrin Rankin, vice president of Student Success.
In addition to learning more about the programs, the community will have a chance to meet with Dr. Katherine Persson, president, as well as important personnel with advising/counseling, admissions, financial aid, BBVA Compass Bank and more. Chick-Fil-A will provide games to play and chances to win coupons. Guests will have an opportunity to register for and win cool prizes like iTunes gift cards.
