College Choirs to Perform Cheerful MelodiesHOUSTON (Nov. 16, 2012) – With the holiday season here, Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will perform a mixture of seasonal selections.

The concerts are on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Each choir will perform 20 to 30 minutes of music and soloists from each ensemble will sing.

“The concerts are unique in that it takes place in the intimate and acoustically pleasing recital hall, which accommodates 120 seats,” said Dr. Todd Miller, music professor and chair of Visual and Performing Arts. “Sometimes, the choir will surround the audience to create a unique sonic experience.”

Secular and sacred favorites of the season, including classical composers Josquin, Victoria, and Rachmaninoff will be performed. Lighter American standards like “Let it Snow” will also be presented in addition to carols from around the world.

The Chamber Singers and Concert Choir consist of students, music majors and non-majors, as well as a few community members who pass the audition process. Currently, there are 40 people in the Concert Choir and 13 in the Chamber Singers.
