High School Students Invited to Annual Project Connections

High School Students Invited to Annual Project ConnectionsChoosing a path after high school is a hard decision that many high school students have to make.

To help them make the right choice, Caney Creek, New Caney, Porter and Splendora high school juniors and seniors are invited to attend the 11th annual Project Connections on Thursday, March 21 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) complex. This free event, sponsored by the local school districts, the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County and Lone Star College-Kingwood, allows high school juniors and seniors and their parents a chance to visit with various colleges, universities and military institutions.

“This is a popular event in which high school students and their parents can visit with different college and university representatives.  They will learn about academic programs that are offered, the financial aid process and may receive fantastic prizes and scholarships.” said Pat Chandler, planning committee member.

LSC-Kingwood’s financial aid specialists will be present to provide information and to assist parents and students in the completion of applications for federal financial aid. In addition, representatives from LSC-Kingwood’s admissions and advising departments will conduct break-out sessions to answer questions about the application process and provide tips on how to select classes, develop an academic plan and be successful in college.

Seniors will have an opportunity to apply for scholarships from the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County.  Applications are available from their high school counselors and are due on Tuesday, March, 19.  Scholarship drawings will be held at Project Connections and students must be present in order to win.  Both juniors and seniors will be eligible for other fun door prizes just for attending the event.

For more information on Project Connections, call 281-312-1749. The EMCID complex is located at 21575 Highway 59, North in New Caney.
