Lone Star College-North Harris massage therapy program has many opportunities waiting for you

Take the next step in starting a rewarding career in massage therapy at Lone Star College-North Harris. Massage therapists are currently in high-demand in the Houston area, and LSC-North Harris offers a fast-track massage therapy program for professional certification.

The LSC-North Harris massage therapy certification program is accredited through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), and prepares students for the Massage Therapy Licensing exam.

Students in the program learn the practice of using touch to manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body. Massage therapy is performed for a variety of reasons, including pain treatment, decompressing tired and overworked muscles, reducing stress, rehabilitating sports injuries, and promoting general health.

"The massage therapy program offers students a great opportunity to work for some of the leading massage therapy franchises like Massage Envy and Massage Heights, or to even start their own businesses,” said Kenya Crawford, director of continuing education at LSC-North Harris. “The many opportunities for success are what make this program such a great addition to our continuing education department."

One of the most affordable massage therapy programs in the area, the LSC-North Harris massage therapy curriculum is 510 contact hours, and can be completed in approximately seven months. Admission to the program is ongoing, with day, afternoon, and evening classes offered throughout the year. An afternoon class will begin Feb. 24 and run from noon to 4 p.m. An evening program will start March 17, with classes held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
