Lone Star College names new president at LSC-North Harris

Lone Star College announced Dr. Gerald Napoles has been named as the new president of LSC-North Harris. He will join the college in July.

Napoles currently serves as senior vice president of student and organizational success at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College in Bowling Green, where he also served as the vice president of student affairs from 2010-2013.

“The quality of candidates made this a difficult decision, but Dr. Napoles stood out with his focus on student success, his energy, passion and positivity, his outgoing personality and his personal values,” said Stephen Head, LSC chancellor. “He knows multi-college systems and has knowledge and experience in a variety of settings.”

Prior to joining Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, Napoles served as dean of learner outreach/assistant to the president at Hazard Community and Technical College from 2009-2010.  Napoles also spent six years working in the Dallas County Community College District, serving at both Richland College and Eastfield College.

“This is an incredible opportunity to join one of the elite colleges in the nation,” said Napoles. “I would like to thank all the people who worked so hard during this process and I look forward to continuing the mission of Lone Star College-North Harris.”

Dr. Napoles holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in general studies in aging from the University of North Texas and a B.A. in sociology from Sam Houston State University.

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College is a comprehensive two-year, public community and technicalcollegewithsixcampuslocationsserving10counties in South Central Kentucky.

All finalist candidates participated in meetings and open forums with the chancellor’s cabinet, community leaders, faculty, staff and students.
