U.S. Navy Band – The Cruisers to Perform at LSC-Tomball in August

TOMBALL, Texas Representatives with the U.S. Navy Cruisers announced today that the renowned band will perform at 6 p.m., Aug. 7 at the LSC-Tomball Performing Arts Center.

Denton Davies, LSC-Tomball Performing Arts Center manager, said admission is free. However, those interested in attending the event are highly advised to reserve a ticket online at LoneStar.edu/arts-tomball.

“We’re encouraging patrons to get their tickets online just so we know ahead of time how many to expect,” Davies said, before adding, “There will be some tickets available at the door at the Performing Arts Center box office on the day of the performance. Although we are encouraging people to get their tickets online, we do not want people to think that just because they didn’t reserve tickets online that they can’t come to the event. We’ll have a few tickets here on hand at the door.”

As the U.S. Navy's premier contemporary entertainment, the Cruisers feature eight of the Navy's most dynamic performers. Formed in 1999 as a specialty unit of the United States Navy Band, the Cruisers are under the leadership of drummer, Senior Chief Musician Leon Alexander. The group takes its name from the Navy's versatile, flexible, multi-missioned ship – the Cruiser. The band plays genres of music ranging from jazz and standards, rhythm and blues, classic rock, adult contemporary and pop as well as original material.

This elite group, according to U.S. Navy officials, has engaged and excited audiences of all ages throughout the United States and abroad with world-class musicianship and high energy, fun-filled performances. Having truly worldwide appeal, the U.S. Navy Cruisers traveled to Oslo in 2004 for the Norwegian Military Tattoo.

In addition, the U.S. Navy Cruisers performed in Keflavik, Iceland, in October 1999 for the Naval Air Station's Navy Birthday Ball. Closer to home, the band, U.S. Navy officials say, is in constant demand by the most senior government and military officials. Smaller combinations of the group often perform at the Chief of Naval Operations' quarters for official receptions.

The band’s show-stopping appearances on Navy birthday concerts, holiday concerts, national tours, and summer concert series performances are always a highlight, U.S Navy officials said.
