Houston Rap Legends take care of business at LSC-North Harris

Houston rap legends Lil’ Keke and DJ Michael Watts are bringing a Southside vibe to Lone Star College-North Harris next week for its Taking Care of Business Registration Rally on Tuesday, July 9 from 3-7 p.m. Lil’ Keke hits the stage from 5:30 -6:30 p.m., and DJ Michael Watts will be providing music throughout the event. Online influencer SpoiledLatina (Yvonne Guidry) will also be on campus promoting summer II and fall class registration.

Taking Care of Business is a LSC-North Harris initiative aimed at making the college admissions and registration process easier for students. Everything can be done in one visit! Admissions, registration, financial aid, testing, official records and new student orientation will all be available in the central courtyard from 3-7 p.m.

“Taking Care of Business is a wonderful opportunity for future students to learn about the campus, and for current students to register for classes with ease,” said Vice President of Enrollment Management Dr. Derrick Manns. “Tuesday, July 9 will be a great day to come out to campus. Lil’ Keke, DJ Michael Watts and SpoiledLatina will be on campus, our student life department will be providing snacks for future and current students, and our staff are prepared to help with everything in the admissions to class registration process.

Lil’ Keke

Rapper Lil' Keke is an early protégé of the iconic rapper DJ Screw and an original member of the Houston rap group, Screwed Up Click. His debut solo album, Don't Mess wit Texas, sold over 40,000 copies in Houston alone. In 2016, Lil' Keke was recognized by President Barack Obama for his outstanding dedication to community service in the Houston area.

DJ Michael Watts

Founder of the Swishahouse Movement, DJ Michael Watts is one of the leading names behind the Screwed & Chopped style pioneered by DJ Screw. The legendary DJ kicks off his nights with the Swishahouse mix on 97.9 The Box from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m., chopping up new hits, unbroken music, Texas-based hip-hop and freestyles, old school H-Town underground hits and the hottest love R&B songs.
