April L.I.F.E. Features Bus Trip, Moving Mediation and More

LIFE WorkshopsApril workshops at Lone Star College-CyFair provide perspectives on the veil, spring rolls, Bellville history, Earth Day and Tai Chi.

The free Learning, Inspiration, Friendship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs are held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the library (LRNC room 131 unless otherwise noted) at 9191 Barker Cypress.

  • April 1: The Veil - An Artist’s Perspective
    Artist Fatema Josh discusses her experience with the veil and will be displaying some of her artworks. She will also be available to talk about her work and methods.
     
  • April 8: Huyen’s Spring Rolls
    Huyen Doan ushers in spring with some tasty Vietnamese spring rolls with the added texture and crunch of sliced jicama. Fold you own spring roll.
     
  • April 15: Bellville/Newman’s Castle Bus Trip ALL/LIFE
    Our host is the King! A lunch will be provided at the castle by Newman’s Bakery. After lunch we will split into two groups, with one group going to the old blacksmith shop for a   demonstration and the other going to the Austin County Museum, located in the old Bellville Jail. The bus leaves at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. and trip cost is $30 payable in advance.
     
  • April 22: Earth Day - Mapping
    Geography Professor Buck Buchanan gives us the latest science on geospacial mapping and Harvey flood mapping. Mother Earth is powerful, but forgiving.
     
  • April 29: Celebrate World Tai Chi Day (April 25)
    Geography Tai Chi is a moving meditation and involves deep breathing, relaxation and gentle movements. Join Gary Buchanan, 25-year-certified tai chi instructor, and learn about its benefits, such as fall prevention and pain management.
