They’re smart, they’re enthusiastic and they display the highly esteemed qualities of leadership. They are the student Ambassadors of North Harris College, part of the North Harris Montgomery Community College District.

The Ambassadors contribute to the needs of the college by enhancing the image of the institution while keeping the surrounding community informed about available courses, programs and events at the campus. The Ambassadors: North Harris College’s gift to the community and itself.

“The Ambassador program began in 1993. The student group serves as a liaison between the college, local high schools and the local community,” says Pradeep Lele, NHC’s faculty and staff center director and one of three faculty sponsors for the organization.

Lele–along with faculty and staff sponsors Dr. Don Stanley and Sharilyn Wood–mentor and work with the 24 NHC Ambassadors for spring 2007.

“The students have outstanding stories to tell about what North Harris College means to them. The Ambassadors share their stories with high school students and the community. Potential students get more out of meeting and listening, one on one, to a college student than they would by reading a brochure or pamphlet. Additionally, the Ambassadors are a true representation of NHC’s student body. The group varies from 18-year-old freshmen to older students returning to college to learn a new career,”
says Lele.

In addition to student recruitment events, the Ambassadors help with class registration, on-campus events, NHMCCD’s Annual Foundation gala, and many other areas where they are needed.

The North Harris College Ambassadors are available to assist in planning and facilitating events, hosting events, leading tours and speaking to the community. For more information, call Pradeep Lele at 281.618.7123.
