Kingwood Chorale to Play Carnegie Hall

The highly-acclaimed Kingwood Chorale, along with directors and performers from neighboring communities including Kingwood, Atascocita, Huffman, Humble, New Caney and others will perform Mozart's "Solemn Vespers" accompanied by the New England Symphonic Ensemble at the world famous Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday, March 12, 2007.

Forty-two members of the Kingwood Chorale will anchor a group of 163 singers from the greater Kingwood area with Dr. Todd Miller, director of music at Lone Star College-Kingwood at the podium. Dr. Miller also directs the Lone Star College-Kingwood Chamber Singers and the Chancel Choir of Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood. Other ensembles include First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood Sanctuary Choir, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Choir, Holy Comforter Lutheran Church Gloria Dei Choir, Kingwood United Methodist Chancel Choir, New Caney High School Choir, Splendora High School Choir and the Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir.

The Kingwood Chorale has been performing classical chorale music in the area for nearly 20 years and this marks their first venture outside the state.

They will perform a "Homecoming Concert" of the Carnegie Hall repertoire, featuring soprano soloist Amy Butterworth, on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Strawbridge United Methodist Church of Kingwood. Tickets are available for $15 adults, $10 students, and $35 for reserved seating.
