In spite of the inclement weather, over 200 New Caney and Splendora high school students, many accompanied by their parents, attended the recent “Connections,” event on Monday, Feb. 12, at the East Montgomery County Improvement District Complex off Community Drive in New Caney. Pictured is Dr. Linda Stegall, president of Lone Star College-Kingwood, who welcomed those in attendance. Students received information on financial aid, career opportunities and area colleges. Additionally, financial aid specialists were available to assist in the completion of applications for financial aid. Drawings were held for several scholarships in varying amounts totaling $10,000 and other prizes. The event was jointly sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County, Lone Star College-Kingwood, and the New Caney and Splendora ISDs.
