Amy Butterworth, critically acclaimed soprano soloist, will join the Kingwood Area Grand Chorus and the Kingwood Chamber Orchestra for a “Homecoming Concert” on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Strawbridge United Methodist Church.
The Kingwood Area Grand Chorus recently returned from their spring tour, which included an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City where they performed Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339.
Also included on the all-Mozart program will be the Sinfonia Concertante in E flat Major, KV 364 and a selection of arias performed by the Kingwood Chamber Orchestra, an elite group of musicians.
Butterworth proclaimed by New York Times critic Anne Midgette as “…marvelously able in the showpiece role of Arkadina,” in the New York premier of Thomas Pasatieri’s The Seagull.
Seen as Inez with New Jersey Opera Theater’s concert version of Il Trovatore, Butterworth has had a steady procession of acclaimed solo performances. A winner of the Scholoss Leopoldskron Competition, Butterworth received her Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music where she performed the roles of Arkadina in Pasatieri’s The Seagull, and Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Additional featured solos include Handel’s L’Allegro with the Bronx Arts Ensemble, Opera Roanoke’s Great Opera Choruses and Stars of the Future concerts as well as a solo recital in Salzburg, Austria. Recently, Butterworth has performed the role of La Contesa in Le Nozze di Figaro as part of New Jersey Opera Theater’s Summer Vocal Institute.
Following her Carnegie Hall debut in March 2007 with MidAmerica Productions, Butterworth will sing the dramatic Rossini Stabat Mater with New York Opera Project in April 2007.
