Published on: March 22, 2007Veteran speaker and Bayou Bend docent, Sallie Morian, will present “Flowers for Their Houses: 18th Century Gardens and the Use of Flowers for Interior Decoration,” a free discussion to be held on Tuesday, Apr. 3, 12:30 p.m., at Lone Star College-Kingwood in the Student Center and Fine Arts Building, room 125.
Members of the public are welcome.
The presentation will focus on how people have viewed flowers in and around their homes since the Middle Ages, and how attitudes and the uses have changed over the centuries.
The Bayou Bend Speaker's Bureau, staffed by Bayou Bend docents, offers informative talks and lectures, illustrated with slides, for groups and organizations interested in learning more about antiques, gardens, history, holiday decorating, or the lifestyles of Americans in the past. Beginning March 28 and continuing through April 12, the public is invited to view the outstanding design work of our interior design students on campus during the Lone Star College-Kingwood Interior Design Trade Show. Join students and faculty for a casual noon-time reception, Wednesday, March 28, 12:30-1:30 p.m., in the foyer of the Student Center/Fine Arts Building, to meet faculty and learn more about a career as an interior designer.
Finally, on April 11, visit our beautiful interior design lab and teaching facilities and learn more about this outstanding program when the Interior Design Department hosts their annual Open House, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Classroom Building B, room 108.
