Published on: May 01, 2007Lone Star College-Kingwood is looking for a few good student ambassadors to represent the college at official functions, recruit new students and assist with community events. The Student Ambassador Program is based in the Office of College Relations in Administration Room 102, where applications are now available.
The application process requires a recommendation, a brief essay and an interview. Students should have a "B" average and bring a copy of their high school or college transcript. Students who enjoy this program are generally very outgoing, enjoy meeting new people, and have no fear of speaking in public. Students who apply for the program do not already have to be enrolled at Lone Star College-Kingwood, but planning to attend for the entire 2007-08 academic year.
Student Ambassadors must commit to a minimum of 30 hours of service each semester and attend bi-weekly lunch meetings for planning and team building. Only 12 students are selected for this elite group each year and many return to the program for a second year. Student Ambassadors receive a $300 scholarship each semester that they participate in the program and a uniform.
Among other duties of Ambassadors are campus tours for potential students, escorting campus guests, providing outreach in the community at charity or chamber of commerce events, and participating in fun events such as parades.

Registration has begun for the Lone Star College-Kingwood May mini-term and summer classes. Beginning May 14 and continuing through June 1, the college is offering several mini-term classes in a 3-week, fast-track format. The first session of summer classes begins June 4 and ends July 10. The second summer session begins July 12 and ends Aug. 16. Register early for best class selection.
Current students may register online at kingwood.lonestar.edu/goto/registration. On campus registration began March 26 in the SFA Building. Students attending for the first time from other colleges or universities must have an official college transcript sent to Lone Star College-Kingwood prior to registration and should also complete the online admissions application at www.lonestar.edu/goto/apply.htm. All students must register and pay tuition before classes begin.
