Christina Thibodeaux (left), facilities office coordinator, and Jackie Cooper, instructional kinesiology specialist, were recently honored with staff excellence awards at Montgomery College.

The honorees, who were nominated by their colleagues for the annual award, will be recognized at an employee awards banquet to be held in the spring.

“On behalf of the Montgomery College Staff Council, I am pleased to congratulate these honorees,” said Dr. Tom Butler, Montgomery College president. “Their dedication to the college is an example for all of us and we thank them for their service.”

Christina Thibodaux, facilities office coordinator who has worked for Montgomery College for 10 years, gets to “do a little bit of everything” for her department, including time sheets, payroll, work orders, and purchase orders.

“It made me feel very special that people thought enough to vote for me,” she said. “I’m deeply honored and thankful for this award.”

The Support Staff Excellence Award isn’t the first recognition for Thibodaux, who was named president of the Montgomery College Staff Council this year.

Instructional kinesiology specialist Jackie Cooper, who has worked full-time for Montgomery College since 2000, said she was “really honored that my co-workers would recognize me for this award.”

Cooper has also received recognition by the Montgomery College Staff Council and serves as vice president for the organization this year. She is the Montgomery College United Way campaign coordinator and is on various campus committees including the student activity fee committee, health and safety committee, Healthier U expo committee, and the new employee orientation committee.

Receiving accolades is a role-reversal for Cooper, who is used to cheering on her co-workers through fitness instruction at the Montgomery College Wellness Center--a fully-equipped, professionally-staffed exercise facility located on campus. In addition to fitness classes, Cooper teaches students, faculty, staff, and community members about the center’s programs and coordinates the fitness class programs and instructor schedules.

Jake Parks, information technology specialist, worked for the Montgomery College technology department, providing technical support to the Montgomery College Conroe Center. After seven years of service with Montgomery College, Parks recently moved on to work with another company.

Montgomery College is located at 3200 College Park Drive, one-half mile west of Interstate 45, between Conroe and The Woodlands. For more information about the college, call (936) 273-7000 or visit montgomery.lonestar.edu.
