Montgomery College to Hold Orientation for New Students

August 24 Event to Help Students Get Ready for the Reality of College Life

MC PremiereStudents new to the Montgomery College campus for the upcoming fall 2007 semester--as well as parents and returning students--are invited to attend MC Premiere, the college’s new student orientation, which will be held on Friday, August 24, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

With the theme, "College: The Ultimate Reality Show," Montgomery College staff and faculty will provide students and their guests with a fun and memorable day.

The program will begin in Building D (theatre), with an energizing opening session, and will continue in various locations on campus with reality TV-themed opportunities such as The Amazing Race (campus tours), Are You Smarter Than…Your College Student? (parent orientation), and Survivor: MC (college survival 101).

In addition, the afternoon portion of the event will include an information fair, with representatives from around campus available to talk about the college and the services it provides, including student activities, student organizations, testing, advising, counseling, financial aid, tutoring and other support services.

Lunch will be provided to students and their guests, and door prize drawings will occur throughout the day, including a grand prize giveaway of an iPod to one lucky student.

According to Joseph Maurer, event coordinator and student activities manager; "MC Premiere is truly not your typical orientation. The event gives new students the information they need to succeed, but at the same time it provides for a fun experience. They will meet our campus family, and learn how to become involved as a Montgomery College student."
