Businesses invited to participate in job fair
LSC-Kingwood’s Men’s Center program manager, Al Dorsey, center, greets students at a recent Community Job Fair. Local businesses can contact the Career Services department to reserve a both for the next job fair on Feb. 11.

Community members looking for employment or a different career path are invited to explore their options at the Community Job Fair.

Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Career Services department will host the job fair on Thursday, Feb. 11 from 12-2 p.m. Housed in the Student Conference Center (SCC), the fair will focus on local employment opportunities for students and the community. Area businesses, that are currently hiring full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, are invited to participate.

“This is a great forum to connect with LSC-Kingwood students and recruit a local work force,” said Jill Todd, career services program manager.

Participation in the event is free, but registration is required. To qualify, businesses must have a store front/office location and pay an hourly wage as required by law. Businesses conducted from a home office and businesses with commission-only positions are asked not to participate in this event. Space is limited and early registration is recommended.

“We are dedicated to helping students make informed decisions about their career choices, and connecting them with opportunities in our community,” Todd said.

LSC-Kingwood’s Career Services department hosts two job fairs each semester and provides free resources to students and the business community. Career Services is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and is located in SCC room 205.
