Community invited to Veterans Day cabaret
Veterans and the public are invited to the “Star Spangled Cabaret” at LSC-Kingwood on Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Lone Star College-Kingwood invites the community to a concert celebrating Veterans Day.

Lone Star Lyric (LSL), a popular Houston-based musical group known for honoring the military, will entertain veterans and the community at its “Star Spangled Cabaret” on Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in LSC-Kingwood’s Music Recital Hall. According to LSL, this concert is a Veterans Day salute to the swinging big bands of the 1940s.

“Lone Star Lyric takes pride in saluting our armed forces in our annual Veterans Day cabaret. In addition to our shows downtown, we are delighted to be able to share this performance with the Lone Star College audience in North Houston," said Kelli Estes, performer and program producer. “We are inviting the community to take a trip back with us to the 1940s with music that helped folks through World War II.”

LSL, known for bringing the American Songbook up close and personal, pays tribute to American Armed Forces.  Songs that will be performed are: “It’s Been A Long, Long Time”, “Accentuate the Positive”, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and band favorite, “Sing, Sing, Sing”. The cabaret will be backed by swing trio Rob Hunt, Carol Daubert and Lex Valk, who plays piano, drums and bass. Singers performing are Lisa Borik, Sarah Brindley, Kelli Estes and Lee Gregory.

“Set your dials to 'Pennsylvania 6-5000' and stop in for a swingin’ good time!” Estes said.

Admission is free, but reservations are recommended. A light reception will follow the event. For more information on LSL’s “Star Spangled Cabaret” or to make reservations, call 281-312-1709. LSC-Kingwood’s Recital Hall is in the Music Instructional Building.
