Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Career Services department provides free resources to students and the business community.
Career Services is dual purposed. It guides students in choosing an appropriate major or career path and assists them in job readiness skills such as creating quality resumes, searching for job opportunities and preparing for job interviews. This fall, Career Services will host three guest speakers who will cover topics on entrepreneurship, financial responsibility and business etiquette.
“We are dedicated to helping students make informed decisions about their career choices. In doing so, we provide career exploration workshops three times a month for career guidance,” said Jill Todd, career services program manager. “We also hold seminars in resume and cover letter writing, job search tips, interview techniques and work ethics.”
In addition to guiding students, Career Services is working with community businesses that are looking to hire employees or interns. To post open positions at LSC-Kingwood, companies must provide the position title, a complete job description, expected work hours per week, pay rate, business name, location, contact information and instructions on how to apply for the position.
“We love to post job openings on our campus. Submissions are accepted all the time and each position remains posted for 30 days,” Todd said.
There is no cost to post jobs or receive resources. Career Services, located in the Student-Conference Center room 205, is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on Career Services, submit open positions, or apply for jobs, email Kingwood.CareerServices@LoneStar.edu or call 281-312-1435.
