Graduating students in the Visual Communication Department at Lone Star College-Kingwood have worked long and hard preparing their portfolios and on Wednesday, April 30, their hard work will be on display. The Visual Communication Portfolio Show will showcase the work of students from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Administration Building, room 202.
“The show is designed to give students experience in promoting themselves and their work in a real-world setting,” said Shawn Sedoff, professor of visual communications and lead faculty. “We’re very proud of our students as they have been working all semester long building their portfolios and putting together their own promotional package to get a job,” added Professor Sedoff.
"In the past, we have had several students get hired by employers who have come to view the show or from some of the activities that go on during the class," Professor Sedoff added.
Each of the student portfolios will feature numerous pieces, showing their versatility with packaging, logos, ads, posters and more.
The Visual Communication program trains digital designers in the communication media of the future. Students are prepared for careers in commercial art and design, desktop publishing, multimedia development, web design, 3-D animation, video and post production.
"This will be a great learning experience for the students and a chance for them to show off their work both to the LSC-Kingwood community and the public," Sedoff explained.
