We are on track to complete the conversion of all classrooms to mediated classrooms per the LSC-North Harris Strategic Plan for Office of Technology Services. The additional staff position that will support the AV equipment will also be able to assist with the maintenance of these active classrooms. This maintenance includes the cleaning of projectors at least twice per year. In addition, we will be able to address problems quicker with a second staff member supporting AV equipment. This will provide a significant depth of coverage that is needed as we convert more rooms to mediated classrooms.

The addition of this service to the OTS department will also help to identify classroom needs and rooms that should get priority to be mediated. If a laptop and media projector are being checked out each week for a room, then maybe the mediation of that room should be moved to the top of the list.
This year 15 rooms will be converted to active classrooms; next year there is a potential for 50 rooms, 36 Title V and 14 college funding. Soon the AV equipment check-out needs of the college will be reduced to only specialty items. In some cases these specialty items may actually be integrated into the classroom when it is converted to an active classroom.
