On Campus Resources

Lone Star College–CyFair is home to some very active and exciting programs of language study (ASL / Interpreter Training, ESL, French, & Spanish) and boasts a full spectrum of services for language faculty and students. Aside from being the only college in the Lone Star College System with a fully-equipped and staffed language laboratory, free tutoring is available in all languages we teach, we offer many non-credit language courses (in Chinese and Arabic, for example), the college offers CELTA certification (in partnership with the University of Cambridge) to teachers of English to speakers of other languages, and language placement testing is also available in our Assessment Center. We also offer certification programs for teaching elementary and secondary students.

World Languages
Programs in modern languages offer the chance for students to explore languages other than their own.

Language Placement Testing
Students with previous language experience must complete a placement exam prior to enrolling in language courses at LSC-CyFair. Fill out the appropriate Referral Request Form below, and you will soon be contacted with the necessary steps to take in order to be placed into the correct level. Students interested in language courses at other Lone Star College System campuses are encouraged to inquire at the campus at which they intend to enroll.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Short-term ESOL courses designed to provide language training in specific areas.

Tutoring Program
Lone Star College–CyFair provides study support to students and the community at no charge.

CELTA
A teacher training program conducted in partnership with the University of Cambridge, UK to offer the Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of other languages (CELTA).

American Sign Language
Our sign language program is designed to facilitate community connections with members of the deaf community by allowing students to practice their interpreting skills at social events and other collaborative presentations with individuals from diverse backgrounds and career fields.

Interpreter Training
For students interested in learning how to branch communications between different people.

Assessment Center (Testing)
The Assessment Center provides a variety of testing services for students and the community.

Continuing Education (Division 1)
This division houses continuing education courses related to computer technology providing students opportunities to earn specialized software and hardware certificates.

Student Computer Lab
Open lab for students to use computers with the latest software to complete their coursework.

Teacher Alternative Certification Program (TACP)
The purpose of the alternative certification program is to provide training for pre-service teachers, aid individuals who want to earn a teaching certification and develop high quality educators.

Associate of Arts Teacher Certification Program (AAT)
The purpose of the associate of arts teacher certification program is to provide training for pre-service teachers, aid individuals who want to earn a teaching certification and develop high quality educators.
