LSC-Kingwood Scholarships

Lone Star College-Kingwood offers many scholarship opportunities. The following procedures explain the scholarship process:

Application

Complete the college's general scholarship application form available in the Financial Aid Office, Room 119.

This application allows students to compete for any scholarship within Lone Star College-Kingwood or Lone Star College System.
The form requires the student to report certain information generally related to basic criteria.
The student must respond to a written essay concerning accomplishments and educational goals.
Two reference evaluations for the student should be submitted.
The student must meet the criteria requested by the scholarship donor.

Deadline

There are two award periods for each academic year. The applications, supporting data, and references must be completed by April 1 (Fall) and September 1 (Spring).

Award Criteria

The awarding criteria is established by the donor in conjunction with the college staff.
This criteria can be based on academic performance, financial need, demographic factors, or a combination of these factors.
Once the scholarships are awarded, the student is notified.
Those not awarded during the first award period compete during the second award period.
Before funds can be placed on a student's account, an award letter must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office, SFA 119.

Administaff Endowment	Must be enrolled full time at LSC-Kingwood with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
Brian Heisler Endowment	Must be enrolled half time with a 2.5 GPA.
Dave and Pamela Dickenson Endowment	Must be a first year college student enrolled at LSC-Kingwood, be a single parent (primary caretaker of children) or from a physically or psychologically abusive family.
Entergy Endowment	Must be enrolled to LSC-Kingwood at least half time with a 2.5 GPA.
Friends of Kingwood	Must be enrolled at LSC-Kingwood and demonstrate financial need.
Humble Intercontinental Rotary	Must be enrolled full time at LSC-Kingwood as a Liberal Arts major with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
Humble Police Association	Must be a graduate of Humble High School with a 2.0 GPA.
Jack and Lynn Fields Endowment	Prefer single parent.
Leo Medley Memorial Endowment	Must be a graduate of Humble High School enrolled half-time with a 2.0 GPA.
LSC Essay Contest	Awarded to five finalists thought the district.
LSC Gala Scholarship	Open criteria.
LSC Golf Tournament	Open criteria.
LSC-Kingwood 20th Anniversary Endowment	Must attend LSC-Kingwood and demonstrate financial need.
LSC-Kingwood Dental Hygiene Endowment	Must be a second year student who has been accepted into the Dental Hygiene program at LSC-Kingwood and must have completed at least 49 credit hours with 3.0 GPA.
LSC-Kingwood Employee and Community Endowment	Must attend LSC-Kingwood full time with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
LSC-Kingwood Golf Tournament	Must be enrolled half time with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
LSC-Kingwood President’s Endowment	LSC-Kingwood student half-time with a 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
Marge Shifferd Endowment	Must be a student worker in the Financial Aid department enrolled three quarter time with an 80% completion rate for three previous semesters and a 3.0 GPA.
Pearl Fincher Endowment	Must be enrolled at least half time with a 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
R. M. Machell Family Endowment	Must be enrolled at least part time in the AND program at LSC-Kingwood with a 3.4 GPA.
Selma Lilley Memorial Endowment	Must be accepted to the LVN program at LSC-Kingwood.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation	The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of current or former United States Marines in their pursuit of higher education. We also provide a very limited number of scholarships to children of Navy Corpsmen who serve or have served with Marines.
