Surgical technologists are responsible for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties. This program includes both theory and practical clinical experience designed to prepare the student to pass the national certification examination for surgical technologists. |

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to extenuating circumstances, the Surgical Technology program will be delaying the start of the next program cohort until August 2012. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Current applicants will be contacted in April and May, 2012, to determine continued interest in the program. Interviews for the August 2012 class will be conducted in June 2012. Salary:
Median annual earnings of wage-and-salary surgical technologists were $36,080 in May 2006. The middle 50 percent earned between $30,300 and $43,560. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $25,490, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $51,140. Job Growth:
Employment of surgical technologists is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. Job opportunities will be best for technologists who are certified.
