Welcome to tutoring at Lone Star College–Kingwood! All of our tutors bring a wide range of experience to the table: some are Lone Star College–Kingwood faculty, others have industry or graduate experience, and others still are alumni of Lone Star College or other universities in the region.

Writing Labs - In the Spring 2012 semester, students will be able to visit two separate Writing Labs. English tutors will be on-hand in both Writing Labs to assist you!

DS Writing Lab (LIB 219)

  • This lab is designed for students taking Developmental Reading or Writing Courses
  • Work on any class assignments (in your ENGL 0304, 0305, 0306, 0307 classes)
  • Write essays and research papers
  • Ask questions about reading, writing and grammar
  • Writing Lab (SFA 208)

    • This lab is designed for students that have writing assignments in ANY class and are working on those assignments on the computer
    • There are several computers where you can work on your assignment
    • You will have a quiet place to concentrate as you write
     

    Online Tutorials - tutoring resources are now available online! Tutorials and practice activities are being added for troubled subject areas. In addition, students can access the live chat feature and get assistance from a tutor here on campus! Bear in mind that we are currently designing the online tutorial services. Check back frequently for new offerings!

     

     

    Student Success Seminars - these appointment-only workshops offer students opportunities to augment their study skills, improve time budgeting between class, job, and family, how to manage the stress of finals, and more.

    Study Groups - Find a few individuals in class with whom you can study, and the Learning Center will provide your group with…

    • A group study room
    • A seminar on effective study groups
    • A mentor tutor
    • Learning Center resources (books, DVDs, videos, etc.)
      Exam Jam - On May 4, 2012, students will have an opportunity to meet with faculty members, SI leaders and tutors for one last review session before final exams. The sessions will give students a final chance to understand what they should be studying to be successful on their final exams. The benefits will be immense, and the rewards go beyond an outstanding academic experience!
