Students of Lone Star College can make use of free tutoring hours in mathematics, English, and other subjects set every semester. Our appointment tutors bring a wide range of experience to the table: some are Lone Star College–Kingwood faculty, others have industry or graduate experience, and others still are alumni of Lone Star College or other universities in the region.
To schedule an appointment with one of our tutors, see the Current Schedule and Policies page.
For students who cannot or prefer not to schedule appointments, we offer open walk-in tutoring hours. During these hours, students may come and go at any time—no appointments neccessary. Walk-in hours ensure that tutoring is never completely unavailable and allow students to engage class material on their own schedule. All walk-in tutors are group tutors by nature, so it is best to come prepared with questions and ready to work.
To see our current list of walk-in tutoring hours, see the Current Schedule and Policies page. Walk-in hours are listed with a red background.
The Learning Center is currently redesigning its online tutoring services. Check back this fall for our new offerings!
Students are invited to attend weekly student success seminars. These 30-minute sessions offer students opportunities to augment their study skills, improve time budgeting between class, job, and family, how to manage the stress of finals, and more. For more information, see the Success Seminars page.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a type of modified tutoring. Employing students, these SI Leaders are assigned to a specific classroom and offer weekly group study sessions for those enrolled. Attending SI sessions is a great way to expand your knowledge as well as become a better student!
For more information about SI, including our current class schedule and how to apply for a job as an SI Leader, see the Supplemental Instruction page.
