Congratulations to our 2013 LSC-University Center at Montgomery Scholarship recipients!

On the evening of Monday, April 29, 2013, the Presidential Scholars Reception and Ceremony was held in the Music Hall of Lone Star College-Montgomery. Scholarship awards were presented to students from LSC-Montgomery and to those attending partner university classes at the LSC-University Center at Montgomery. LSC-Montgomery President, Dr. Austin Lane hosted the evening with a theme of “Return on Investment”. Dr. Lane thanked the gracious donors of the scholarship funds and emphasized that their generous investment in Lone Star Students will return a very rich reward for the community overall.

LSC-University Center at Montgomery Director Dr. Kurt Czupryn and Student Services Director Dr. Debra Britton joined President Lane on stage to distribute the awards and congratulate our students.

The recipients:
Perla Torres (University of St. Thomas) received the AAUW-Montgomery Branch Scholarship funded by the American Association of University Women.

Perrie Dunigan, Tiffaney Odewale, Margaret Ogwago, and Shemeka Clay (all Our Lady of the Lake students) received LSC-University Center at Montgomery Degree Completion Scholarships. This award is designed to encourage those who have received a degree from one of the colleges of the Lone Star College System to complete their bachelors' degrees through LSC-University Center at Montgomery.

Margaret Finch (University of Houston-Victoria) received the LSC-University Center at Montgomery Nursing Gap Scholarship. Rachel Cantu and Dawn Ellington (University of Houston-Victoria) each received RN to BSN Scholarships. These awards are similar to the Degree Completion award listed above, but require that a student must be within 12-15 hours of completing their associate degree of nursing from LSC-Montgomery and enrolling in the RN to BSN at LSC-University Center.
