Job Description

Yes, you love animals. That’s not the only thing that makes you a superior veterinary technician or veterinary assistant. There’s also your training, knowledge, skills and experience, which you continue to develop and grow. There are the personal attributes that clients and colleagues have noticed which set you apart. They describe you with words like: Reliable, Motivated, Enthusiastic, Cooperative, Adaptable, Poised, Ethical, Resilient, Inquisitive, Accurate, and Thorough. You “play well with others,” but do not require constant supervision to remain on task. You anticipate needs and opportunities, and take the initiative to make things better than you found them. You have at least two years of full-time experience in a small animal hospital or clinic, or have completed training in a formal VT or VA program and earned credentials such as LVT, RVT, or CVA. If this describes you rather well, read on.

The Animal Hospital at Steiner Ranch is the only AAHA-accredited veterinary facility between Bee Caves and Cedar Park, in the western suburbs of Austin, Texas. We are a rapidly-growing companion animal primary care provider and are seeking qualified veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants to join our team. Our goal is to remain a small, high-quality clinic invested in close, lasting relationships with nearby pet families, not grow into an impersonal multi-doctor mega-practice. Sound good? Then read what we can do for you.

If chosen to join our team, you will have a 3.5-day work week, with no more than two half-Saturdays (mornings only) per month. No Sundays, boarding, grooming, or overnight duties. You will earn paid time off, get generous discounts for your personal pets, and receive company contributions to your pet’s medical care account. You will have access to our group-rate AFLAC benefits program, and our retirement-savings program with company-matching contributions. You will work in a bright, clean, modern facility equipped with digital radiology, ultrasound, laser therapy, cryo-surgery, top-notch dental cleaning and polishing equipment, positive-pressure surgical suite, negative-pressure isolation ward, central cleaning system (no mopping!), and electronic medical records. Our veterinarian is a proven and respected mentor with over 25 years of experience who loves to teach and grow our team members. You’ve been looking for a better place to be a great tech or assistant; it’s here at AHSR. So, what's the challenge? Keep reading.

The candidates we seek have proven ability to perform blood draws (limb and jugular), place IV catheters, restrain pets, administer IV/IM/SQ/oral/topical medications and vaccines, clean/prep/sterilize surgical instruments, prepare and assist with surgical and dental procedures, collect TPR and other vitals data, monitor pets under anesthesia, perform bandaging tasks, engage clients about their needs, and advocate with animal owners for appropriate diagnostics, treatments, nutrition, and products for their pets. You will be able to lift at least 35 pounds, and have good math and communications skills (written and oral). Can you bring all that, with confidence and a positive, "can-do" attitude?

Contact: Qualified candidates, please submit your resume and any additional information about your interest and qualifications to: manager@steinervet.com
