Visioning 2009
Dear LSC-North Harris Colleagues:
Last fall the college embarked on a Visioning Process involving faculty, staff and community members. Led by Dr. Blair McDonald, this process consisted of four separate meetings in October and November, 2009.
The purpose of the process was to have open and frank discussions about how our college is currently perceived and alternately, how we want our college to be in the future. All input was transcribe and prioritized according to the number of votes cast. No answers were edited or deleted.
Given the rapid growth of the college, the focus on student success, teaching and learning, community partnerships and planned construction, I thought it was important that we take time to assess the college operationally and culturally.
The following report is also available for your review at
Visioning Results, November 2009(.pdf). It begins with this executive summary, which includes the prioritized results of all the sessions, along with four important breakout categories of: quick hits—things we can do in the future; priority action items; major issues to be researched; and how to support change. The full body of the report includes all the data collected including discussions and suggestions offered.
During the session, I met with participants and made a commitment to act on the concerns garnered through all of this hard work. And, while we know that it is impossible to approach every individual item, I am dedicated to moving forward where appropriate.
