The mission of The Write Place is to provide consultations with writers in their development from prewriting to final drafting—no matter the skill level. Skilled writing consultants collaborate with students based on their goals, objectives, and growth as they practice and refine communication for different purposes, audiences, and contexts.
We assist students, faculty, and staff on an individual basis and offer workshops that focus on writing-related issues such as research, organization, grammar, and formatting. We provide expertise on rhetorical matters targeted to writing, communication, and critical thinking in particular disciplines or for special purposes, including workforce needs. We also serve as a resource for faculty who wish to use writing to facilitate student learning and success at all levels.

"The task of a writer consists in being able to make something out of an idea." - Thomas Mann

"We write to heighten our own awareness of life.... We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection.... We write to transcend our life, to reach beyond it ... to teach ourselves to speak with others ... to expand our world, when we feel strangled, constricted, lonely.... When I don't write, I feel my world shrinking. I feel I lose my fire, my color." -Anaïs Nin

Born in England. Educated under the British system on the Channel Island of Guernsey. Learned typing and shorthand, which gave me opportunities for many interesting jobs, including working at the Foreign Office in London, and the British Embassy in Tehran, Iran. Later, I moved to California, married and had a son and a daughter. My husband was a mission pilot and we lived for 3 years in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Back in the U.S., in Colorado, I learned medical transcription. The doctor I worked for was a medical/legal expert. I have lived in The Woodlands for eight years. I enjoy reading, and belong to a writing group. I am writing a book of memoirs for my children.
