LSCS Board of Trustees Vacancy

Lone Star College Seeking Applications and Nominations for Trustee Position

The Board of Trustees of the Lone Star College System is accepting applications from interested citizens desiring to be appointed to the Board to fill the unexpired term for District 7. This position was formerly held by Ms. Linda Good who resigned July 1 after eleven exemplary years as a trustee and moved out of state. Lone Star College Board Policy allows the Board to appoint a trustee to fill the vacant position until the next regularly scheduled election of members to the Board in November 2022.

LSC Board of Trustees represent single-member districts.  District 7 includes Conroe, Willis, north Woodlands, and Splendora communities. The district border generally follows FM 1314 and Highway 59 to the east of I-45 up through Splendora, and to the west, FM 1488 north through Willis. A detailed map is on the right hand side navigation bar.

Lone Star College is one of the largest community colleges in the United States with a semester headcount over 90,000, over 7,000 employees, 20 locations, and annual expenditures of $550,000,000.

To hold the office of Trustee, individuals must have been a resident of the State for twelve months and a resident of District 7 for six months prior to the day on which the appointment is made.

Responsibilities of the Board include setting policy, oversight of finances, and employing and evaluating the Chancellor. Trustees are expected to regularly attend Board meetings and related events, actively participate in committee work, build collegial working relationships within the Board and community, and act in the best interest of the organization.

Applicants should submit a resume or vita, a letter of interest (no more than two pages), and 3 letters of recommendation from professional sources by U.S. Mail or email to the address below:

 Ms. Deseree Probasco, Board Liaison
Office of the Chancellor
5000 Research Forest Drive
The Woodlands, Texas 77381
(Office phone 832-813-6514)

The deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on October 1, 2021.   Interviews will be held in October and the Board will select a new trustee at the November 4th Board meeting.
