Since 2017, the Diversity Action Committee (DAC) has played a meaningful role in advancing equity, one of our cultural beliefs at Lone Star College. The committee has created operational definitions for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts and informed equitable hiring practices. I look forward to their upcoming work on student programming, diversity policy analysis and training centered around addressing bias.
DAC was refreshed with many new members this fall. The LSC Chapter of the Council on Black American Affairs (LSCCBAA) and the Hispanic Leadership Council (HLC) serve as affinity groups and promote growth for all LSC employees.
Though this is not a comprehensive overview of how LSC advances equity, each group member has shaped the cause. Their service and personal stories positively impact every corner of LSC.
