Lone Star College has more than 93,000 students each semester who drive the system to support their instructional and facility needs. These needs compel us to work with our legislators to ensure that community colleges are a statewide priority - especially as our area continues to expand in business, economy and workforce. Our main objective is to help advance the LSC legislative agenda in collaboration with the LSC board of trustees, chancellor, campus presidents, executive leadership, and other key stakeholders in our community.
Government Relations continuously promotes Lone Star College as a resource to the communities it serves by fostering positive relationships with community groups, civic organizations, nonprofits, and municipalities. In addition, we believe our students should have opportunities to learn and grow beyond the classroom and we regularly reach out to our communities on important issues and sponsor initiatives that benefit our students and the communities in which we live and work.
Identification and Monitoring
During each legislative session, government relations identifies and monitors important legislation that could potentially impact its students, faculty, employees and surrounding community.
Our legislative priorities reflect the strategic priorities of the LSC Board of Trustees as consistent with the LSC mission. It is our goal to advocate for Lone Star College throughout the year and garner the support needed to advance Lone Star College's legislative priorities.
