The LSC Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion officially launched in early 2021; however, office is building upon years of work by the department of Governance, Equity, and Records, the LSC Diversity Action Committee and various campuses.
For nearly a decade Lone Star College has been intentional about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion creating initiatives that have provided support, resources, and thought leadership for students, staff, and faculty, along with community partnerships that have bolstered impact to prospective students.

DEI Glossary of Definitions
In 2017, the Lone Star College Diversity Action Committee (DAC), engaged in an extensive inquiry and feedback process to establish operational definitions for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to be used collegewide. The committee found that creating a common language was a foundational requirement to measure the performance and effectiveness of the College's strategies and initiatives.
