Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI)

At Lone Star College our cultural beliefs are centered around: One LSC. Student Focused. Own It. Advance Equity. Cultivate Community. Choose Learning. All these cultural values are embedded in the work of this office.

Our Mission
The Lone Star College Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion's mission is to create a systemwide diversity, equity and inclusion approach that provides all students, faculty, and staff with a sense of belonging and equitable access to opportunities.
Our Vision
Lone Star College's story is one of increasing diversity, with more than 60% of our students coming from minority and historically underrepresented backgrounds. As such, we have been designated as both a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) and Hispanic Serving Institution by the US Department of Education. Our vision is for Lone Star College to be the model minority serving institution recognized for providing innovative and transformative programming, practices and curriculum that eliminates the student equity gap.
ODEI Objectives
Our office is collaborating across LSC to create cultural awareness, learning and professional development programming, along with implementing practices that impact diversity, equity, and inclusion.
ODEI Objectives evolved out of Lone Star College's Cultural beliefs:
CULTURE
Identify opportunities to enhance the climate and ensure we embody a culture of inclusion for everyone.
LEARNING
Provide opportunities for continuous individual and institutional learning, reflection, and collaboration on diversity, equity, and inclusion for students, faculty, and staff.
POLICY
Collaborate with faculty and administration on developing equity-mindedness practices that reduce barriers for students and promotes student success, retention, and completion.
RECRUITMENT
Increase recruitment, hiring, and retention of diverse faculty and staff to support our continuously growing diverse student community.
COMMUNITY
Create collaborative community partnerships that enhance our ability to serve our students and communities they come from.
TRANSPARENCY
Ensure transparency and accountability on diversity and equity metrics.
