Sounds good! What do I do first? 

Step 1: Apply Online

The first step to success is submitting the application. The application is quick and ensures that you get your acceptance to begin the process in plenty of time to start classes. 

Check your email in-box! You will receive information about your acceptance and next steps. The most important first step is creating your My.Lonestar email address inside our student portal. Here you will find a helpful checklist that will walk you through all of the following steps! 

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

What are my required documents? 

  • High School Transcripts
  • College Transcripts (if you have ever attended college before)
  • Placement Testing or Standardized Test Scores

Whether you need to submit your high school transcript or your GED documents you can follow these simple steps. Contact your high school and request that they send in your transcript to Lone Star College. The best ways are 
  • TREx: Fastest was to send high school transcripts. Your school counselor or registrar can use this tool to send your transcripts to us via TREx. 
  • Email: Registrar@lonestar.edu
  • International: All students who graduated from outside the US please visit our LoneStar.edu/international-students webpage.
  • Mail: Lone Star College - Online

Transcripts must be official and unopened, sealed by the high school administrator. 

To register for classes LSC-Online must have official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have previously attended.  Once received, it may take 2-4 weeks for your transcript to be evaluated for appropriate credit.
  • SPEEDE: Most Texas institutions send official transcripts electronically via the SPEEDE network, please check with your institution.

Transcripts must be official and unopened, sealed by the institution. 

New students are required to submit college readiness scores to demonstrate college readiness in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.

Complete one of the following options to satisfy this requirement:

  • Submit your SAT or ACT scores (within the past 5 years), view qualifying testing scores on our TSI Exemption and Waivers page. or
  • If you have completed TSI testing within 5 years at another institution or ISD, we can retrieve your scores. OL-Testing@lonestar.edu for more information. or
  • Provide an official transcript indicating completion of college level English or Algebra to our Admissions & Records Department. Your transcript can be sent electronically or delivered in person. or
  • If you transfer to Lone Star College from a private or independent institution of higher education, or an accredited out-of-state institution of higher education, and have satisfactorily completed college-level coursework.  

If you have any questions, please contact the Testing department at OL-Testing@lonestar.edu. 

If you do not meet the Exemption criteria listed above you must first take the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) prior to taking the TSIA2. This PAA is available online and once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion via email when you are done. Then, forward a copy of the completion certificate to OL-Testing@lonestar.edu.

Step 3: Complete your New Student Orientation

This is the best way to learn how to enroll in classes, how to access your online courses, and how you can find all the courses you need. All new students are required to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). Dual credit and students transferring from another university or higher education institute you may be exempt from having to complete the NSO.

You can register for online orientation by logging into your myLonestar portal. 

Step 4: Meningitis Vaccination

While you do not have to have the meningitis vaccine if you are taking all online courses, we, as a college, want to ensure that all students are safe. This means that if you enroll at a class on another campus later in your journey, you would need to show proof of that vaccination. For this reason, your checklist in the myLonestar portal will require you to do one of the following things. 

  • Submit your Official Shot Record - this can be done through your myLonestar portal to diectly connect to your Med+Proctor account which will walk you through submitting your vaccine records. Choose "Official Shot Record" and the "Document Type". Learn more here
  • Submit proof of Medical Exemption - Submit your Official Shot Record - this can be done through your myLonestar portal to diectly connect to your Med+Proctor account which will walk you through submitting your Medical Exemption. Choose "Medical Exemption" and the "Document Type". Learn more here
  • Submit proof of Conscientious Objection - 
  • Proof of Conscientious Objection can only be submitted using the required Texas Department of State Health Service Exemption from Meningococcal Vaccination Requirements for Reasons of Conscience form. Once the student has completed and printed the required form, submit it to the campus Student Services for the campus you attend.  This can be done via email or in person and contact information and hours is available from the Student Services website.
    DO NOT submit this form to Med+Proctor. 

If you have any questions, and Admissions representative can help you and answer any questions you may have. However, you cannot enroll in courses until this step has been completed.

Nearly 50% of LSC-Online campus courses don't require a textbook purchases and have materials developed, created and shared for learning that are engaging and thorough. These courses require no extra costs when it comes to books, subscriptions, or any other learning materials.
