Taking online classes at LSC is an affordable option for most students. Our tuition rates are already low and learning online reduces the commuting and childcare costs associated with on-campus learning. You will also avoid sitting in rush hour traffic to catch your morning or evening classes.
Enrolling for classes at LSC-Online is now easier than ever through the MyLoneStar.edu portal. Check out our short video that walks you through the process. If you get stuck or encounter any error messages along the way, contact an online advisor.
LSC-Online offers small class sizes so students can receive a more personalized educational experience. LSC-Online classes are taught by expert full-time faculty members who specialize in online education to bring students the very best online education has to offer.
In terms of course load, students at LSC-Online have the option of taking between one and six courses each semester (depending on the number of credit hours in each course). Full-time students can graduate with an Associate Degree in under two years by enrolling in twelve or more credit hours each semester.
LSC-Online students must follow the semester course outline and assignment due dates required by instructors in their course syllabus. Online students do have the option of taking each class in the traditional 16-week semester or in a condensed 8-week semester based on student preference. If you are considering taking an 8-week class, be prepared to hit the ground running. 8-week classes contain just as much instruction and course content as a traditional 16-week class!
Although the amount of time spent on an online course varies by individuals as well as subjects, the recommendation is that students should plan about two hours of study time for each credit hour taken. For example, a student enrolled in 12 credit hours can expect to spend about 24 hours studying each week. For more information, visit LoneStar.edu/Advising-Guidelines.
Lone Star College Online currently offers over 30 fully online programs and certificates across all of our campuses. Included in this list are programs like the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Arts in Teaching. These transfer degrees include common core class requirements and are designed to transfer to four-year Texas public university bachelor programs in related disciplines. Additionally, Lone Star College Online offers online certifications that stack towards fully-online Associate of Applied Science degrees. These workforce degrees are not designed for transfer to a four-year university program. Rather, these degrees are designed for students seeking technical career skills for work in specific job areas. These degrees include some core class requirements, and these core classes can be transferred to a four-year university program if a student decides to pursue that option after graduation from Lone Star.
