Program Details

The manufacture of a single product or complete system requires initial testing and recurring inspection to ensure reliable operation. New developments in the fields of space exploration, oceanography, and transportation with their requirements for lighter, stronger engineered materials, and advanced fabrication techniques demand today's NDT technicians must be prepared to use the most sophisticated nondestructive testing methods.

The Level one and Level two certificate programs are designed to train students for entry level skills in metallurgy, advanced ultrasonics including phased array, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiographic film interpretation, electromagnetic testing and other means of inspecting a material, weldment, or product while maintaining structural integrity. An inspector's safety, including safety in high radiation areas is covered. All courses exceed the requirements of the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) recommended practice SNT-TC-1A.

The Inspection Technology program also provides in-depth coverage of the American Welding Society (AWS) and American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) codes for structural welding and pressure vessel fabrication in preparation for the AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) examination.

The general education core will transfer to a variety of colleges and universities. Contact a counselor, or faculty member at any of the colleges for specific information and to obtain the recommended sequencing of courses.
