Who We Are
The Texas Gulf Coast International Education Consortium exists to promote international and intercultural education in Texas’ institutions of higher education.
The Texas Gulf Coast International Education Consortium was created in 2015 by leaders of several state community colleges led by Lone Star College. The Consortium was created to assist in developing collaborative study abroad and exchange programs, and offered smaller colleges greater flexibility and more efficient use of limited resources.
In the coming years, TGCIE will sponsor several faculty development activities, offer numerous workshops, seminars, and other events with an international focus.
What We Do
- NETWORK Study Abroad Programs available through TGCIE partners for TGCIE students.
- PROMOTE in its membership both public and private regionally accredited institutions of higher education in the State of Texas.
- COMMUNICATE that TGCIE facilitates the communication of information from participating institutions to and from agencies of the State of Texas.
- COLLABORATE with members to share best practices and work together to achieve the goals of comprehensive internationalization.
Membership in this consortium is open to Texas public and private two-year colleges, and by invitation to four year colleges and universities in Texas, as well as two and four year institutions and consortia in contiguous states. As accredited institutions of higher education in the State of Texas, the Texas Gulf Coast Consortium will adhere to the policies of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
