Stephen J. Quezada recently joined the board of directors for Lone Star College (LSC) Foundation. Quezada is a Shareholder for Ogletree Deakins law firm in Houston. He holds an undergraduate and law degree from the University of Houston and is a member of multiple community organizations including the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the East End District.

"It is an honor to join the LSC Foundation Board. I am a first-generation college student. My mother had a high school education. My father had an elementary education and was an immigrant to the United States. I deeply believe in the value of education and opening the doors to students from under-served communities by providing a helping hand," said Quezada.

When asked to join the board, Quezada looked forward to helping the students at Lone Star College. "Lone Star College is a majority Latino-serving institution, and the Latino population in the area is in need of outreach, mentorship, and inspiration. Latino students, and all students of color for that matter, need to know that there are brown and black doctors, lawyers, engineers, executives, accountants, and educators, and they need to see and hear them." He continued, "Those young minds need to know the time is now and that the next generation is in their hands, and that they need to reach out and grab opportunity and success. I want to empower them to be bold and achieve through hard work and preparation. Si se puede!"
