The Heritage at Towne Lake neighborhood in CyFair is a 55+ active adult community located next to LSC-CyFair where, since 2010, neighbors have joined together and contributed to student scholarships. "Our scholarship program was founded by resident Joe Incognito after he put on a successful community car show which provided seed money for the creation of the scholarship efforts. The Heritage at Towne Lake Endowment was minimally funded in 2019. This endowment is unique in that Heritage is the only active community resident group currently donating to an endowment", said resident and Chair of the Heritage Scholarship Committee Susan Chapman.

The group funds multiple annual scholarships and the endowment awards one scholarship a year in perpetuity to both academic and workforce students at LSC-CyFair. Community members fundraise throughout the year and host an annual meet and greet where scholarship recipients get a chance to meet their donors. To date,  $144,800 and 70 scholarships had been funded which include four scholarships awarded from the endowment. Their current drive has collected almost $6,000 thus far towards annual scholarships and almost $4,300 additional donations towards the endowment.

The idea to support students came naturally said Chapman, "As a community partner in northwest Harris County and a next-door neighbor to LSC-CyFair, Heritage's decision to support the Lone Star College system was an easy choice." She continued, "Meeting the scholarship recipients and hearing their stories reinforce with Heritage donors and residents the value of supporting the Heritage at Towne Lake Scholarship Program.  Some donors admitted that they were inspired to donate after a Meet and Greet reception."
