A Message from Nicole Robinson Gauthier, Executive Director, Lone Star College Foundation:
It is our sincere hope that all of our friends and supporters have remained unharmed by Hurricane Harvey, Texas's most catastrophic weather event in history. As Houston and the surrounding areas work to put the pieces back together, so too is Lone Star College and the LSC Foundation to ensure that students' educational and career pursuits remain as uninterrupted as possible.
The Lone Star College Foundation is the fortunate recipient of an anonymous gift to support students and employees impacted by Hurricane Harvey. In conjunction with this gift, the Foundation is partnering with Chancellor Steve Head and Lone Star College to bring some semblance of relief to our students and full-time employees.
A special fund has been set up for students and full-time employees who have suffered losses or damage, with priority given to those with documented home or auto damage. These funds are distributed as a one-time allocation based on student and employee applications being evaluated and rated by a committee. Additionally, these funds are not intended to replace insurance coverage or FEMA funds for which the student or employee may be eligible.
If you are able, please consider joining us in supporting these relief efforts. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every gift matters. Here are just a few examples in which various donations can impact a student or employee:
$20 - can replace two hours of lost wages that a student is desperately missing at this time.
$100 - can replace school supplies, notebooks, calculator, backpack
$250 - can replace a refrigerator full of perishable food
$500 - can replace a laptop computer or car insurance deductible
$1,000 - can go towards a pricey deductible that flood insurance mandates
$2,500 - can pay for a month's hotel stay for a displaced family
$5,000 - can replace major appliances in a home where flood insurance was NOT required and therefore not purchased
