The purpose of this inaugural event was to bring together established executives, as well as new business professionals to promote diversity, the spirit of working together and the value of leadership. Participants worked on personal skill sets needed to push for their new direction. Participants enjoyed the two empowering keynote presentations provided by Fawn Germer and Nelda Blair, a dynamic panel discussion and several interactive break-out sessions.
Fawn Germer nationally known motivational speaker, 5 time bestselling author and Oprah bestselling author provided the morning keynote presentation for the 1st Annual LSC-Women's Conference at Montgomery. Fawn's overview presentation was specifically designed to give participants the performance jolt needed in order to leave the ranks and excel without limits. Participants learned to:
Participants were also inspired by Nelda Luce Blair our luncheon keynote for the conference. For over 25 years, Nelda Luce Blair has enjoyed success as a Texas attorney and political advisor, as well as an elected official and television commentator. Over that time, Nelda has also been an integral part of her community and state. She currently presides as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township, the leadership for an unincorporated community of 100,000 people which is currently in transition into its own unique form of government. She also chairs The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors, serves as President of the Conroe ISD Education Foundation and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Houston's Future.
Nelda's presentation challenged women to reach their personal and professional goals through their natural ally- "Influence". We admire it, we pursue it, we respond to it. But, how do we achieve it? Nelda Luce Blair says that, "as women, we already possess this most valuable quality - yet, sometimes we simply fail to recognize it, and often we fail to use it to full potential." "Women are naturally influential in a supernatural sense. Quite simply, we must learn to harness that instinctive ability, and use our inborn traits to their full advantage." Nelda's candid views and advice provided a fresh self-assessment, her descriptions of learning from past history encouraged new ideas about women's issues, and her "Life According to Ms. Nel" anecdotes invoked a wide range of familiar emotions in everyone.
