Lone Star College Foundation has funded 13,574 students more than $5.1 million in disaster relief over five natural disasters from Hurricane Harvey to Hurricane Beryl plus several floods and a winter storm since the fall of 2017.
At Lone Star College- Kingwood, Faculty and Staff aren't just nourishing students' minds. With help from a LSC Foundation mini grant, LSC-Kingwood faculty and staff rehabilitated their instructional garden where it serves as a relaxing retreat, a source for healthy food, and means to educate students.
When the call for volunteers goes out - Donna Hammett is one of the first to sign up and is always at an event from start to finish, said Foundation Director of Special Events Laura Brown.
"Receiving a scholarship made me believe that anything is possible! Knowing that there are people willing to help me achieve my degree makes me beyond grateful. I am able to strive in my academics and continue my education."
